Don’t Leave ✝️

Happy Good Friday! 💐

That’s an Oxymoron ~ Good Friday? Seriously? We all know Jesus Died on Friday. There’s nothing good about the day Jesus was crucified. IKR!?!? It was a tragic day full of sadness, cruelty, injustice, pain, anguish, blood, sweat, evil, and yet…He died a horrible slow excruciating death So That we can experience Salvation, Forgiveness, Grace, Mercy, Love, and Hope.

Thank God for the “So That”!

When my youngest was 2 years old, he would see my niece driving up the driveway on “date night” and run in my room as I was putting on the last minute makeup, and he would say, “Don’t Leave” in the sweetest most endearing trembling voice.

I would squat down and I look him straight in eyes and encourage him, “I’m only going to be gone for a little while. When you open your eyes in the morning, you’ll see me. You’re in good hands. I promise I’ll only be gone for a little while. I’ll be back!” We would exchange tender hugs and kisses on the cheek.

As we read in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, Jesus prepares them for His death. Jesus told them that He was going to be crucified, die, and rise again on the 3rd day. John 14:23-31 and Matthew 20:17-19.

When the time came, it was a mystery . They didn’t understand nor know what to believe about Jesus. Their hearts were saddened until He appeared to them after He rose again.

Aren’t we like that? We don’t want to suffer. We just want the “So That”! We want what’s on the other side of suffering. We must suffer to appreciate the blessing. We must experience Good Friday to appreciate Easter. “So that” we see that He’s Alive!

My youngest son is now 13 years old. He enjoys “late start Wednesdays” when we have time to get Chik FilA in the morning for breakfast. He likes to sit in the car and savor every bite before we leave the parking lot and drive to school. Recently, I cranked the car sooner than he wanted and he grabbed my hand, “Don’t leave. This is our mother son time.”

Aren’t we like that with Jesus now that we know Him and Celebrate what He’s done in our lives? We crave alone time with Him. And when we have quality quiet time we don’t want it to end.

Dear Jesus! Thank you for the “SoThat!” Thank You for coming back! 🙌🏻🙏🏻❤️✝️
